Rao Bahadur Y. Mahabaleswarappa Engineering College (RYMEC), formerly known as Vijayanagar Engineering College, was established in 1980 under the aegis of the Veerashaiva Vidyavardhaka Sangha (VVS), Ballari. Over the past four decades, the institution has emerged as one of the leading engineering colleges in Karnataka, renowned for its commitment to academic excellence, research, innovation, and holistic student development.
The institution is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi, affiliated with Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi, and accredited with NAAC A+ Grade. Several of its eligible undergraduate programmes are accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA), reflecting the institution's commitment to quality assurance and outcome-based education.
In recognition of its academic excellence, RYMEC was selected as one of the 16 private engineering colleges in Karnataka under the SUPER 30 Programme of the Regional Ecosystem for Technical Excellence (RETE) initiative launched by the Government of Karnataka in 2022.
